Three Different Types of Series

I am learning that text posts on Threads are like hummingbirds. They'll arrive on your windowsill and linger just long enough to appreciate the thought behind the words before being whisked away by the algorithm, never to be seen again.

A few weeks ago I saw a thread where a user was talking about three different kinds of series, and how they create different expectations for potential readers. To the best of my memory, the types were:

1. Progressive series (the action builds on the events of the prior stories)
2. Episodic series (the action is contained within each story)
3. Thematic series (the action in each story is unrelated, but unified by some other element)
